CPI completed a bike/pedestrian trail replacement for NPS at the Fort Point Overlook/Battery East Trail/Bay Trail/Golden Gate Bridge Plaza Accessible Trail area in 2021. This project was part of a larger NPS preservation and access effort at the Fort Point area for which CPI has done project work over time.
CPI replaced over 12,000 sq. ft. of loose GraniteCrete with poured-in-place concrete finished with exposed aggregate to match existing texture and color. To facilitate the work around visitor access, CPI managed trail closures and visitor detours, and worked with the Golden Gate Bridge district for major equipment staging including concrete ready mixed and pump trucks. Challenges included working in a high-traffic public thoroughfare environment, difficult logistics with a physically constrained site, and coordinating staff, military team, owners, and industry material suppliers for strict COVID compliance.
Project & Technical Capabilities
- Expert CPI staff engage hands-on and manage projects with teams of highly qualified and vetted members of our active duty armed forces preparing for transition to civilian careers.
- Projects across the construction and infrastructure spectrum including strengthening & stabilization, repair & preservation, safety & access, and new construction. CPI addresses America’s national park deferred maintenance backlog, completing projects that would otherwise likely remain undone due to limited park resources.
- Self-perform concrete, wood, steel, & composite construction as design-build projects coordinated with owners. Larger projects include self-performed work in addition to managing design, specialty consultants, and sub-contractors if needed.
- Leader in advancing innovative technological solutions to construction and infrastructure challenges that respect historic and cultural significance, promote durability, increase accessibility and safety, reduce cost, and meet relevant regulations.
