Participant Success Story: Brianna Miller

Briana Miller, a 12-year Air Force veteran, took a significant step in her career transition by participating in CPI’s internship program. Briana, whoserved as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist and holds a Bachelor’sDegree in Environmental Science, sought to build on her expertise and explore new opportunities in the construction industry.

As a Master Sergeant with a distinguished military career, Briana reached out to CPI seeking a SkillBridge program that would help her transition into a civilian role in safety management. Through CPI, she was matched with an internship at Turner Construction, the nation’s largest general contractor, where she stepped into the role of an Environmental Health & Safety Extern. Briana reflects on herinternship experience:

"I reached out toCPI Foundation seeking a SkillBridge program that would allow me to intern in a safety management role in the construction industry to prepare for transitioning out of the military. The opportunity CPI provided with TurnerConstruction in the role of an Environmental Health & Safety Extern has been such an eye-opening and wonderful experience! The Turner team provided a welcoming and inclusive culture, and I learned so much about how the civilian industry works, along with gaining technical knowledge & skills. Seeing the respect Turner's staff has for each other and being trained by highly experienced women made me see why Turner is a leading employer in the construction industry!"

With Briana’s journey with Turner Construction, along with her military service concluded, she has received and accepted an offer as a safety specialist for a global company. The company’s environmental focus, coupled with its safety program, aligns with her ideal career aspirations. Laura’s experience in CPI’sIndustry Internship program underscores the value of real-world exposure in shaping the path forward for transitioning service members.
